Cristo Rey Dallas is a college preparatory Catholic high school for socioeconomically disadvantaged students of all faiths, located in Pleasant Grove. Cristo Rey Dallas opened in 2015 as the 30th school in the Cristo Rey Network. Currently, the school has three grade levels; Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors. Next year, the school will have all four grade levels.
Condon Tobin is one of Cristo Rey’s job partners. Four students rotate each day, Monday through Thursday, 8:45 a.m. -3:45 p.m., and on Friday 9:15 a.m. -2:45 p.m. Cristo Rey’s work study program helps the students develop essential skills, both professionally and personally. The main duty of the student workers is to serve as Condon Tobin’s receptionist. The students are there to greet clients and other visitors, and also sign for packages and deliveries. Other tasks in which the student workers partake daily include restocking the kitchen and copy rooms, scanning important legal documents into our system, and preparing mail for delivery.
About 60% of the student workers tuition is paid through the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP). The CWSP is for students to work with companies all around Dallas to earn their tuition. Additionally, Cristo Rey Dallas receives donations that also aid the students who attend the school. With the donations and the CWSP, families end up paying around 10% of the tuition.
